Inner Sanctum

Real beauty is about resilience: girls and women who have been through something and come out the other side with an idiosyncratic scar or a hard-earned wrinkle, like the first lines of a powerful story.

My heart goes out to today’s victims of US flown drones.
Those ordinary citizens who lost limbs, life or loved ones.
My prayers are for those hiding tonight from US made guns.
Those innocents lost in the trenches of resource war.
My condolences are with mothers amidst US dropped chemical weapons.
Those whose babies were deformed and destroyed in the womb.
My concerns are about the runners maimed by US homegrown terror.
Those mourning the loss of freedom, safety and privilege.
My solidarities are behind those whose shock, awe and horror
Will never replay on US TV.
All are hurt by US nurtured violence, some invisibly.
All deserve peace, but we mourn unequally.
